18 year old holds up Carrefour in Béziers

France 3/Scoop, Feb 6

On Tuesday, a robbery took place at the Carrefour city supermarket in Béziers.

Shortly after 6pm, a man with a gun entered the supermarket located in the Jean Moulin district in Béziers, in the city centre, barely 200 meters from the police station. He threatened the cashiers with the gun.

At the same time, an officer from the Anti-Crime Brigade, was leaving his office and getting into his car parked near the supermarket doors. He heard screams, and reported the incident immediately.

The armed man ran out of the supermarket with money from the tills, and the police officer followed him, joined by his colleagues.

After a short neighbourhood investigation, the police discovered that the 18-year-old had fled to his home nearby. The burglar was arrested, and police found the gun, and several hundred euros at his home.

Customers and employees at the supermarket were shocked but not hurt.
