277 kg of cannabis seized on the A9

France 3/Scoop, Oct 3

Catalonia was on strike this Tuesday and several roads were blocked between France and Spain. Just before these blockages, a truck was almost able to cross into France with 277 kilos of cannabis.

At first glance, the removal van seemed to be carrying furniture, but the customs officials decided to search the truck because they were "intrigued" by the behavior of the Danish driver and his first statements. They finally found the cannabis hidden inside furniture and in two suitcases.

The two occupants of the van “were handed over to the judicial police department of Perpignan, on instructions from the Perpignan public prosecutor’s office," said the customs officers.

The value of the goods is estimated to be more than €554,000 on the black market, according to the Perpignan customs officers.
