500 cows and 80 calves saved from a fire in the Lot
600 tons of fodder went up in smoke on a farm in Gorses in the Lot on Tuesday morning. 80 calves and 500 cows were saved by firefighters.
Firefighters were alerted this Tuesday morning shortly before 5am to a fire which occurred on a farm in Gorses.
The firefighters were confronted with an agricultural building containing 600 tons of fodder on fire. A livestock building housing 80 calves, and another containing 500 cows were in danger of catching fire.
At the height of the intervention, nearly thirty-five firefighters from Latronquière, Sousceyrac, Lacapelle-Marival, St. Cere, Bagnac and Figeac, three fire trucks, a ladder truck and a water-carrying truck were involved in this operation.
