6900 new places in Haute-Garonne colleges by 2024

LanguedocLiving, Jun 26

The College des Ponts Jumeaux, in the Sept Deniers district of Toulouse, has about 360 students. On Tuesday the Departmental Council voted in the 2nd phase of its investment plan, which will create an additional 3,800 places, including for the Ponts Jumeaux college.

In the meantime, the start of the 2018 season looks tense in several colleges in Toulouse, as parents learned that their child may not be educated in their current college due to lack of space.

Between 2022 and 2024, the following colleges will be constructed at a cost of 111 million euros.

Toulouse Est - Balma
Saint-Martin du Touch in Toulouse
Paléficat – Grande-Selve in Toulouse
Malepère – Montaudran in Toulouse
North of the Haute-Garonne
Extension of the college des Ponts Jumeaux
Extension of the college George Sand

This will create 3,800 new places.

These new projects are in addition to the plan initiated in 2016 by the county council, which has provided for the creation of 3,100 additional places in the colleges in Haute-Garonne.

That's a long time to wait for some parents, whose children are already suffering from lack of available spaces.
