A great find with something for everyone's palate. The hors d'oeuvres buffet is wide ranging, deliciously fresh and a meal in itself. Another bonus is that it has free parking at the airport and for those flying on the Stanstead afternoon flight the timing is perfect. |

I agree with ms Fisk. Plus, they do a just right omelette - always a good sign. Be wary, though, of the alcohol prices - it's an airport bar! |

I agree that this restaurant is extremely convenient for the afternoon flight back to London and the buffet is good, not great - but is that really enough to make you want to seek this place out at any other time than when you are waiting for a plane?. In my view, the food and service are fairly average and the ambiance reminds me of, well, an airport unsurprisingly. I also agree that it is expensive. Here in the Languedoc there are hundreds of places that will produce better food in more pleasant surroundings at less cost. |

La Marque Page, meaning ‘The Bookmark’, is a charming family run restaurant in the heart of Montolieu, le village du livre. It is typical of many such restaurants in villages across France, looking unremarkable and unexciting until you sample what it has to offer.
Situated in a small square opposite the church, the best tables for lunch are outside under the shade of the plane trees, but the interior is also airy and welcoming. The 3 course fixed price lunch is superb value and the cooking is tremendous for the price. Every dish easily exceeds its rather modest description on the menu or the large blackboard. The chef/owner usually pops out of the kitchen to say hello at some point and front of house is managed very efficiently by his wife, who speaks a little English. Service is as it should be, neither too fast nor too slow, and with just the right amount of attention. Remarkably, for France, customers without a reservation were welcomed at 2.00pm without fuss, which makes this restaurant even more exceptional than most.

The only place to eat here is in the courtyard garden, which opens off to one side of the converted garage that forms the main restaurant, making it ideal for a Sunday family lunch or a special occasion on a long warm summer evening, looking up at the stars.
The main restaurant’s massive ceiling height and unsympathetic lighting leave it cold and without atmosphere, especially if there are only a few diners.
In contrast, the courtyard tables surrounded by flowerbeds and large pots and sheltered by umbrellas and a long vine-covered pergola against the outside wall are perfect.
The maitre’d is also the sommelier and he knows his job and wine inside out and is happy to recommend a good local wine to go with your food choice. He also speaks reasonable English if your French is having a night off.
There are several menus to choose, from €16 to €40, and a good a la carte. The ‘tournedos de beouf and pan fried foie gras’ is heavenly, but, to be honest all the food is excellent with plenty of variety for fish lovers and vegetarians as well as carnivores like me!

Make sure you ask for a table in the pretty courtyard garden with vine-covered pergola – perfect for a family lunch or romantic evening, dining out under the stars. Choose from the variety of menus (from 16 to 40 euros) or go à la carte – it is all excellent, and fish fans and vegetarians are well catered for. |

This beautiful little restaurant only opened this year. It is right at the side of the canal. The food is brilliant and the ambience is lovely. it is small, family run and a genuinely unforgettable eating experience. My husband and I had a lovely dinner there. It is open for lunch and dinner every day except Wednesday. |

What a delightful find - thanks to the previous reviewers here. :-))
We've eaten here twice over the past few weeks, Sunday lunchtimes both, and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience each time.
We'll definitely go back, and sooner rather than later. |

The Michelin starred restaurant at Le Hotel de la Cite lives up to it’s billing. It is the perfect place for a special occasion and the cooking, service, ambiance and whole experience is exceptionally good. The décor might be medieval but the food is definitely 21st century. You will pay five star prices but it is worth every euro. For a birthday, anniversary or to just impress – go here and don’t flinch when the bill comes. |

I wondered about this place when it first opened because it didn’t look open and it’s location isn’t the best, but having had lunch and dinner there several times, I have been completely won over. The multilingual staff are wonderful and the cooking is extremely good. The €18 two course lunch or dinner, including a glass of wine, is magnificent value for money. The modern air-conditioned interior is a delight when compared to the many floodlit no atmosphere restaurants usually encountered in France. |

Not the best location, but locals tell us the multilingual staff are wonderful and the cooking is extremely good. The two-course set lunch or dinner, including a glass of wine, is good value for money, and the modern, air-conditioned interior is a delight on a hot sticky day. |

Opened about two years ago by the former head chef of ‘La Barbacane”, this restaurant has now won it’s own Michelin star and was packed on the Friday lunchtime that we visited, always a good sign. It has a very contemporary design, including monogrammed plates, cutlery stands and slabs of butter and piped birdsong in the toilets (!) and is situated in a modern building beneath ‘La Cite’. The menus attempt to take you through an exploration of your emotions including one entitled ‘Action … Reaction’ where the food is chosen for you. I can’t as yet comment on that as we contented ourselves with the very reasonable €25 fixed price lunch. In truth we were a little bit disappointed with the canapés and petit fours being the highlights for us – the intervening courses appeared to be trying too hard to impress, with more emphasis on look than on the eventual taste. I would love to know other people’s opinions and will certainly give it and the other menus another chance, when I’ve saved up a bit. |

Located on the ring road just outside the city walls of the Bastide Saint Louis, this marvelously atmospheric restaurant occupies a former 18th century stable. A pretty, shady courtyard lends itself well to summer dining, while inside, the wooden features and olde-worlde vibe provide comfort on cooler days. Weekday lunch menus from €15, or set menus at €23 and €30 at all times. A charming, friendly place where you can eat well without having to dress up.

Chez Saskia is just next door to the Hotel de la Cité. It’s light, modern and upmarket, and offers menus at €28 and €45 (on the day we visited, the pricier menu comprised snails in parsley sauce, tagliatelle with asparagus and truffles, grilled sole with artichoke, fennel and white wine sauce, goat cheese with honey, and a special Coupe Saskia dessert of chocolate, pistachio nuts and Amareno cherries). |

On rue Saint Louis, Comte Roger has a pretty courtyard and a four-course menu gourmand at €42 that features king prawns or duck foie gras, a choice of lamb or monk fish, cheese and dessert.
Well worth a visit! |

Very high quality cuisine. Although in the busy Cite de Carcassonne, ambiance in summer is lovely thanks to the leave-covered terrace. Try a winter visit though, as chef Pierre Mesa will have more time for you. He even remembered us at our second visit after 6 months! |

Difficult to find but worth the search! Fantastic ambiance and decoration in an old french house. Secluded front and back patio terraces, front with pool!
Very creative cooking with beautiful dishes inspired by french, mediterranean and asian cuisine. Set 4-course menu with house aperitif for around 30 euros. |

The all inclusive menu seemed a little expensive until you arrived and were served five excellent courses plus an aperitif and coffee. Wine is also included. It is also possible to order off the a la carte menu. The restaurant was full and the cuisine and ambience were excellent. The service went downhill a little later on in the night, but overall a very good place to eat. |

This has to be one of the finest restaurants in France. We had the €42 menu. This was fantastic. The wine was included and the service was great. I hope to revisit time and time again. I tried in February to book for a party of four however the phone kept putting me on hold. I drove there , only to find out that it is closed for renovations until March. |
