Aigues-Mortes fete without cars and with police

France 3/Scoop, Oct 14

The Aigues-Mortes festival carried on this weekend, despite the accident last week with a festival car, and the death of a woman who was tossed aside by a bull. The prefecture banned the special festival cars this week, following an accident when a young woman hight on drugs and alcohol turned a car over, injuring 15 people.

The police were out in force, with 40 of them visible on the main street in Aigues-Mortes. The festival cars had been banned, and several party-goers protested with banners.

“Despite everyone’s disappointment, the party continues with bulls, horses, music, and friendliness. It all went smoothly,” said Mayor Juan Martinez.
