Another fatal drowning in Hérault

France 3/Scoop, Aug 7

Another fatal drowning took place in Hérault on Monday, bringing the number of deaths in the department this season to 10.

The drama occurred at 8pm on Carnon beach in Mauguio.

The 60 year old man was pulled from the water, but the rescue services could not resuscitate him.

This news comes after an incident last week where an English woman, sometimes resident in Hérépian, Hérault, drowned near Béziers on a beach.  She had a heart attack in the water, and could not be resuscitate.

The southerly winds have caused the ocean to swell, and authorities have announced that certain beaches are now unsafe for swimming.  A red flag on a beach means no swimming.
