Art and Material

Musée Fabre, Montpellier.   |  On until May 28

The Fabre Museum in Montpellier is presenting the exhibition: Art and Material – A Gallery of sculptures for touching from 10 December 2016 to 28 May 2017.

The visitor is invited to try an unusual way of discovering art by means of ten casts of sculptures, certain of which come from the collections of the Musée Fabre and others from the collection of the Louvre museum. On this occasion the visitor feels the casts with their fingertips and lives through a new, intimate and sensory experience in a museum space, designed to be a trail of real initiation. The trail progressively leads the visitor from a sensual awakening to a total immersion in a sculptor’s workshop. Sound and play equipment and guided tours wearing a blindfold teaches to touch as one is taught to see.

A hanging of original photographs by Sophie Calle from the series Blind People completes the exhibition and prolongs the visit to the permanent collections.
