Artisan trades for the future

MidiLibre/Scoop, Jan 11

The association L’outil en main has created a scheme to teach youngsters manual artisan trades.

Located in Villefranche-de-Rouergue in the Aveyron, the association allows about thirty children a year to discover manual trades. Artisan volunteers offer their time and tools to show youngsters trades which are gradually being lost.

Retired butchers, upholsterers, carpenters are all giving up their time to teach children aged 9 to 14 every week.

The association has been based in Villefranche for 6 years and welcomes about 30 children every year.

If you are in the area, or you don’t mind travelling, the association is looking for more volunteers.

You can call them on 06 72 20 47 79 or click on their website here.
