Baby dromedary born at Lunaret zoo in Montpellier

France 3/Scoop, May 3

Newborn female dromedary, born in Montpellier zoo, has been named Harissa. She’s two weeks old, and is already proudly standing upright next to her mother in their paddock. She’s the favourite for visitors, especially the young visitors.

Harissa, together with parents Alba and Thor, share their enclosure at the zoo with some sheep from Cameroon.

The fat contained in the single hump of the dromedary, allows it to withstand the extreme conditions of its environment: drought, lack of food and heat.
