Beware the latest car theft scam
Police are warning motorists to be aware of a car theft scam.
It’s an old scam, but thieves are resurrecting the method because it works.
The thief places a 50€ note under the windscreen wipers of a car on the passenger side. The note is often fake.
The thief then waits for the driver to get into the car. The driver starts the car, then sees the note, and gets out leaving the engine running. The thief slips in to the driver's seat and drives off with the car.
Police advise motorists to check their windscreens for notes, flyers, or tickets, before they get in their vehicles. They also urge drivers never to leave the car unattended with the engine running.
