Brescou, from the island to the museum

Musee de L'Ephebe, Cap d'Agde.   |  On until May 12

From 19/10/2018 to 12/05/2019: daily (10 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday / 10.30 am to 5 pm on Saturdays and Sundays Closed during Christmas and New Year holidays Year).

Brescou is not only the massive fort that we see sitting on its rocky plateau off the beach Richelieu.

Brescou is also an underwater archaeological site where important pieces were found, now housed in the museum.

"From the Island to the Museum" traces the history of the fort through these collections: weapons and ceramics of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

The illustrator Vincent Marco produced large drawings evoking the imaginary of this fort/citadel/prison/lighthouse, and now today a Monument Historique.
