British couple struck by lightning near Lyon

A British couple on a motorbike trip were struck by lightning on Monday near Villeneuve-de-Berg, Ardeche while they were riding their bikes.

The couple were taken to Lyon hospital, where the woman was treated for burns to her chest, and the man was released with minor injuries.

It is advisable to stay away from trees and other tall objects during an electrical storm. Lightning will generally strike the tallest object in the vicinity.
