British driver fined for 265 km/h

LanguedocLiving, Jun 25

A British driver was caught doing 265 km/h on the A26, the road which links Calais with Reims.

The driver was one of six drivers issued speeding tickets. They were linked to the Modball Rally, which is an annual event. Their motto is “Drive all day…party all night”

This year’s rally began in London on Sunday, and the first leg was Paris.

The drivers were issued with €750 on the spot fines, but surprisingly were allowed to continue on their journey, with their teammates volunteering to drive.

If you want to avoid 180 speeding drivers this week, the route is London to Paris, Lyon, Monaco, Venice and Vienna, where the rally is due to end on Friday.

The organisers insist they do not encourage speeding.

"We focus on the events each night and keep driving time down to ensure safe journeys between cities," they write on their Facebook page.
