Béziers monkey released after 15 years in a cage

France 3/Scoop, Apr 26

Lola is a 17 year-old monkey from Béziers, who has been kept in a small cage in her owner’s back yard for 15 years.

Police were finally allowed to remove the monkey from her captivity. Her owners will be summoned by the courts on a charge of keeping a protected species in an unsuitable environment.

After four months in quarantine, Lola will be sent to an animal sanctuary centre in Belgium, where she will live with other members of her own species.
