Camembert recall after E.coli found in test sample

The Connexion, Apr 27

If you have a wheel of Camembert in the fridge, it's worth checking its best before date.

A manufacturer has issued a nationwide recall of a batch of cheese after E.coli bacteria was discovered in a test sample.

The Calvados-based Fromagerie du Plessis issued the recall for cheeses sold between March 20 and April 26, 2018, which has a use-by date of May 11, 2018. The lot number on affected wooden boxes is 260218DS0.

The company said no cases of food poisoning related to the affected batch have so far been reported to health authorities.

But it said that it decided to issue the national recall after E.coli was found in the test sample as a precaution. Anyone who has a camembert that may be affected by the recall is advised not to eat it, but return it to the shop where it was bought.

The Fromagerie du Plessis has also set up a consumer helpline. The number, which is free in France, is 0 805 805 950.
