Car crushed by concrete blocks

MidiLibre/Scoop, Aug 26

On Wednesday 22 August in Taussac-la-Billière, Hérault, an accident took place when a stack of concrete blocks fell from a truck onto a car. A woman in the car died at the scene, and a man was seriously injured.

The driver of the truck was placed in custody on Friday, and he is indicted for manslaughter.

“His driving license has been withdrawn,” confirmed the deputy prosecutor at Béziers, Jean-Philippe Rey. “Not only is the speed of the vehicle under scrutiny, but also the load. The weight was slightly higher than allowed and it was on a road that is not allowed for this type of vehicle.”
