Carrefour agrees deal with Tesco

LanguedocLiving, Jul 2

Carrefour and Tesco have entered into an agreement to join forces to battle it out with the rest of the supermarket sector.

The companies are two of Europe’s largest retailers.

Their plans are to form an agreement to purchase goods together, so saving costs.

Tesco and Carrefour said their alliance will let the companies improve the supply of goods available in stores.

[Presumably that will give them even stronger purchasing powers, thus impacting on smaller suppliers who have already had their margins driven into the ground by these “super-buyers”. Ed]
