Catalan firefighters sign the deal
The collaboration deal between firefighters from north and south Catalan, has now been sealed.
The objective is to pool resources from France and Spain to minimise communication issues across the border.
The partnership was signed in Perpignan on Friday.
Limited to 25 km on both sides of the border, this collaboration could be extended to other relief interventions such as floods or road accidents.
The code name is Cooperem.
Cooperem aims to implement a shared policy on emergency prevention and fire management in order to reduce the impact of risk, both in terms of human and economic losses and material and environmental damage.
