Contrôle techniques fully booked until May
Rules defining the ‘contrôle technique’ for a car are changing on 20 May this year. There will be more checks, and the main change is that problems found will need to be fixed before the car passes the test. The price for a CT is increasing too.
As a result of these changes, many drivers are booking their CT’s before the new regulations come into place, and the centres are fully booked for weeks in advance. For example in Toulouse, it’s almost impossible to get an appointment before May. Previously centres were carrying out around 10 CT’s a day. Garages are reporting that they now carry out at least 30 a day, and are fully booked until mid-may or beyond.
So, if your car is due a CT before May, don’t wait until the last minute to get an appointment!
