Costel Nitescu Trio with special guest Steeve Laffont

La Douceur des Arts, Thézan des Corbières.   |  Aug 25

Costel Nitescu is equally at ease playing jazz and swing. His talent for improvisation puts him in the same league as Stéphane Grapelli. Steeve Laffont plays with the top names in Gypsy Jazz.

Costel NITESCU : violin
Rudy RABUFFETTI : guitar
Guillaume BOUTHIE : double bass
Special Guest — Steeve LAFFONT : guitar

Costel NITESCU: born in Romania, this classically trained violinist became first violin of Radio Bucharest’s National Orchestra at the age of 16. He has recorded with some of Romania’s top musicians, such as the accordionist Ionica Mimoune. A Paris resident for more than 15 years, Costel is a constant presence on the jazz scene, where his feeling for swing and his talent for improvisation put him in the same league as Stéphane Grapelli.

Steeve LAFFONT: Steeve was given his first guitar at the age of six by his uncle, Mario Petriciolli, who taught him the rudiments of Django standards. With no knowledge of musical theory, Steeve adopted the guitar and developed his own language, reinventing chords and fingerings, taking risks, and becoming a master of improvisation.
