Dawson/Verdier exhibition

Le Coin d'Art, Olonzac.   |  On until Jul 31

Artists MARTIN DAWSON and KARINE VERDIER are exhibiting in Olonzac at Le Coin d'Art Gallery from 6th July to 31st July.

The vernissage is Friday 6 July at 6pm till 8pm. Come along and see the work, with a glass of wine and nibbles.

• Martin Dawson is an award-winning artist whose work is constantly evolving.
Beginning his professional photography career in an advertising studio in Yorkshire, northern England, he worked his way through various aspects of his chosen trade from dark room printer, publicity and commercial photographer, advertising photographer and finally, his chosen field of fine art photography. Several years of in-depth training and studying, including college degree work, brought him to his great love: landscape and scenery, but with a difference.

His style is anything but pure photography, rather it’s a graphic interpretation using traditional and Photoshop techniques combined with limited use of colour. His images often resemble hand tinted photographs and are mistaken occasionally for illustrations or paintings, comments he enjoys as this is the effect he’s aiming for.

His photographic journey from England, via California has resulted in his eventual chosen destination - the beautiful Occitan region of the south of France where he is enjoying indulging his fascination with the effects of light on the landscape.
Yorkshire born, he has a down to earth approach to his art, saying “If an image needs a lot of explanation, then maybe it misses the point.”

• Karine Verdier began her creative life in her adolescence with drawing, later turning to painting on glass and mirrors, glass engraving and then to acrylic paintings on various surfaces. She also does photography in which her preference is for close ups, landscapes and animal pictures.

In 2016 she decided to begin sculpting wood and started with a small owl: this first attempt gave her a great deal of satisfaction and inspired her to continue. She mainly takes her inspiration from nature which, as far as she is concerned, is an endless source of creativity.

Most of her sculptures consist of curves and broad undulations. She hopes that her sculptures will appeal to the hearts and emotions of her viewers.

We look forward to welcoming you to the vernissage and to the exhibition which will be open on Tuesdays (Market Day) from 9.30 - 12.00 and Sundays from 10.00-12.00 and 15.00-17.00 from Friday 6th to Tuesday 31st July.
