Deadly fall at Collioure

France 3/Scoop, Jun 5

A climber fell to his death at Collioure, Pyrénées-Orientales.

The climber was climbing with two friends, on a relatively easy section of the Roc del Boc, known to be frequented by beginner climbers.

The cause of his fall is not yet known, but the police suggest that it may have been a rope handling error. The man fell 15 metres, much to the shock of his fellow climbers.

Rescue services had to walk for 20 minutes to get to the climber.  They were unable to resuscitate him.
