Discovery of a cannabis lab in Perpignan

France 3/Scoop, Jun 18

Last week, a policeman on patrol in Perpignan got a strong whiff of cannabis emanating from the terrace of a house. The Narcotics Brigade from Perpignan went to the scene and discovered a real cannabis laboratory in the yard.

The yard had been fitted out for a commercial activity of growing cannabis. Police seized 310 cannabis plants and 50 grams of cocaine. The 59-year-old occupant and her 37-year-old son were in police custody.

The investigation identified a third individual involved in trafficking, a 33-year-old man. He was arrested last week. The search carried out in his home led to the discovery of sacks of soil, a humidifier, a temperature tester, pots with plants identical to those found on the site of the lab, 790 euros and a rifle.

In his hearing, he admitted to being the one at the head of the lab. He stated that the production of cannabis was not intended for resale but for his personal consumption and that of his friends.

The three protagonists were referred to the prosecutor's office at Perpignan. Two of them will be held accountable in court.
