Domaine Ollieux Romanis 2016 Corbières Cuvée Classique

Rosemary George MW, Dec 8

Domaine Ollieux Romanis 2016 Corbières Cuvée Classique - 9.00€

A classic Corbières blend, with a high proportion of Carignan with some Grenache Noir and Syrah, both fermented and aged in vat.

The different grapes are blended in January, and the wine is bottled in November. A deep purple red. Very garrigue on the nose, and on the palate, quite sturdy with the Carignan, balanced with good fruit and spice.

There is an appealing freshness from the Carignan, and Pierre Bories, the owner and winemaker, enthused: ‘it’s the grape variety that I prefer, It is so suited to the region, giving tannin, structure and fruit’.
