Eight-month old baby in coma

France 3/Scoop, Jan 6

An eight month old baby is in a serious condition after being shaken by his uncle.

The baby has been in a coma since December 14, after the baby’s mother left the baby in the care of her brother in the Lemasson neighbourhood of Montpellier.

It was the first time he had taken care of his nephew. He gave the baby a bottle, but while the child was crying, he shook the baby violently, before leaving him on a baby mat for almost two hours.

Doctors said that the baby showed obvious signs of being shaken.

The child’s grandmother has also been indicted for failing to assist in danger, and the court case starts this week.
