Faunes, fais-moi peur!
Images du Faun de l’Antiquité à Picasso at the Musée Fleury, Lodève from July 7th.
Guided tour of the exhibition in English, Thursdays in July and August at 11.00 am.
This is an extraordinarily rich, unique exhibition which has been designated an Exhibition of National Interest by the Minister of Culture, meaning it is “particularly remarkable, innovatory and original in its approach.” With an emphasis on the works of Picasso, the collection also forms part of the network of Picasso exhibitions this summer, with partner shows presenting further aspects of Picasso’s huge output in Montpellier, Alès and Nimes. But, more locally, it is fitting that this astonishing introduction to the world of fauns should re-open the Lodève Museum, the entrance hall of which is dominated by Paul Dardé’s enormous Faun.
