Fire closes France-Spain motorway for hours
A motorway linking France and Spain was closed for several hours on Saturday evening because of a fire in Spanish Catalonia.
The blaze broke out in sweltering heat, as millions of drivers hit the roads on the busiest weekend of the year.
"We're working together with French firefighters on a fire at la Jonquera," the Spanish force tweeted.
The fire started at 5.30pm and was brought under control later in the evening.
As the fire raged, traffic on the road was stopped, leading to many hours of delays for thousands of travellers.
This comes after a crashed lorry on Friday spilt 30 tonnes of oranges onto the A9 between Perpignan and La Jonquera. Not a great start for many holidaymakers.
