Fire takes out optic fibre for 9000 subscribers

France 3/Scoop, May 10

9000 Orange subscribers in the Hérault have been without internet or telephone due to a fire which caused a break in the fibre optic cables.

Orange have been working on the problem to replace and repair the cables.

Subscribers in five communes are affected - Montpellier, Castries, Castelnau-Le-Lez, Saint-Mathieu-De-Tréviers and Vendargues, in the Hérault.

At best, the problem may be resolved by Friday morning, said Orange in a statement on Thursday afternoon.  In other words, it doesn't sound as though the repairs are going very well.
