Four Catalan beers awarded medals

It was a real triumph at the agricultural fair for "Cap d'Ona", the oldest Catalan artisan brewery, a region best known for wines.

The Cap d'Ona brewery in Argelès-sur-Mer has collected four medals at the agriculture fair, one of which is gold.

It’s a great success for the family business which employs 10 people.  Grégor Engler was the first Catalan craftsman to embark on producing artisan beer.

Before starting, he trained at the French institute of drinks, brewery and maltings.

“At first everyone thought I was mad, to make beer in the south was out of the ordinary, especially traditional beers.”

With his companion Elodie, they produce a very wide range: 25 beers with seasonal fruits, and the most surprising tastes, for example, wild angelica harvested from the slopes of Canigou …

The gold medal was awarded for the Bière Brun au Maury.
