General and national strike on Tuesday
The CGT, FO, UNEF, UNL, SUD and FSU unions are all calling workers and students to strike on Tuesday 9 October, to protest against the governmental social policies.
Transport will be affected, particularly buses, trams and metros.
Even if the transport service is not directly impacted by the strike, events planned in cities may well cause disruption of buses and trams. The disruption is likely to continue on Wednesday morning, as vehicles and trains may be in the wrong place on Wednesday morning.
Kindergarten and primary school teachers are involved.
High schools and colleges will also be impacted.
It is likely that in some cities, municipal officials in charge of extra-curricular time and school canteens will be on strike. Contact your local town hall to find out more.
Health professionals, both private and public, are affected by this strike. Emergencies will still be provided for.
Other public services
Civil servants are affected, so there is a risk of disruption in many public services, including La Poste.
