Gilets jaunes abandon first occupied roundabout

France 3/Scoop, Dec 19

On Tuesday night, police arrived at the Capens roundabout in Haute-Garonne, south of Toulouse. The roundabout was one of the first in Occitanie to be occupied, and demonstrators have been there every day since the beginning of the troubles from 8:30 in the morning until 6pm at night.

The police issued a warning on Tuesday night, that each person could be issued with a fine of 1,500€ per day if they didn’t move.

The group, mostly retirees, made a strategic retreat, and went to occupy another roundabout 500 metres away, on private land.
