Hérault dolphin died despite attempts to save it

A dolphin was washed up on the beach in Agde on Sunday. It had a 20cm wound under its jaw. Firefighters and a specialised vet treated the 1m50 dolphin, and put it back in the water. Given the strong swell, the dolphin was released at Cap d’Agde port.

Soon after, the dolphin was spotted on Valras-Plage beach, visibly too exhausted to swim.

The vet tried to save it once more, but in the end came to the sad conclusion that the dolphin should be euthanised.
