“I robbed a bank because they refused me a loan"
The Bessières bank robbery trial is underway this week.
In 2014 Pascal Teso was refused a bank loan, and this led him to mastermind a plan to dig a 30 metre tunnel to access the Crédit Agricole vault.
The Crédit Agricole branch in Bessières, to the north of Toulouse, was broken into by the gang, and 110 chests were opened in the vaults. An estimated 2.5 million euros were stolen.
The police first arrested the robbers in 2016, and the trial has only just come to court. Eleven people are in court for a trial which is expected to take two weeks.
