Is Béziers moving towards Feria tickets?

France 3/Scoop, May 22

The Béziers Feria is well known in the region. Some avoid it due to the steady increase of drunken behaviour, while others manage to ignore that side of the Feria and enjoy the diverse cultural events.

The fiftieth Feria will take place on August 10th to 15th this year, and it will be free to visitors. However, this may not be the case for subsequent editions of the Feria.

Robert Ménard, mayor of Béziers, has announced that the cost of extra security which is now enforced due to terrorist attacks, is making the budget for the Feria go through the roof. State contributions are getting lower, while the overall security bill is rising.

“I am not saying that we are going to do it in Béziers,” said the mayor, "but we can not continue like this! “ “We must ask ourselves the question”, he added. “something is necessary in order to continue our famous Feria.”
