Lautrec is in shock at the loss of Axelle

France 3/Scoop, Aug 16

The village of Lautrec, in the Tarn, has lost one of its inhabitants in the Italian road bridge disaster. Axelle Placé, 19, was driving through the viaduct on the way to a music festival when it collapsed. Lautrec is in shock.

The announcement of the death of Axelle Placé spread throughout the day on August 15th. The family were notified by the town hall, who confirmed their fears when she didn’t answer phone calls or texts. Shopkeepers and locals heard the news from media reporters, and news spread fast during the commune’s ’quinze août’ party.

Axelle’s family are very involved in village life, running the café Plum, which is a café/restaurant/library. The locals were stunned into shocked silence as the news spread about the popular girl.
