Law Faculty in Montpellier opened again

France 3/Scoop, Apr 3

The law school at Montpellier University reopened its doors on Tuesday morning, following the violent aggression of students in March. There was a heavy police and security presence.

A hundred students were gathered in front of the entrance of the law school on Tuesday morning to oppose its reopening. “The peaceful resumption of courses seems impossible, when not all the witnesses were heard, and not all the responsible parties have been established. Safety of students is not assured,” said the mobilisation committee.

This Tuesday, some of the guards in front of the college were the same as those present on March 22: “Who assures our security today? It’s the same agency as Thursday, when we know that one of them hit a student!” said Mathilde Kamal indignantly, a student at the university.

“It is not right that people who have actively participated in the aggression, or passively as the staff of the administration, are still there. There is a danger for students," said José-Luis Torres, departmental secretary of the Solidaires union.
