Light at the end of the tunnel for local TGVs?

LanguedocLiving, Aug 30

On Wednesday, the Minister of Transport, Elizabeth Borne, accelerated the project for the new Montpellier Perpignan TGV line, by declaring that the land necessary to build it should be protected.

Ex-environment minister, Nicolas Hulot, who has recently resigned, was hostile to the project. Midi Libre are questioning whether the sudden acceleration of the project is a coincidence or not.

Carole Delga, president of Occitanie, said “We will know in the coming weeks, on the occasion of the presentation of the Government’s Mobilization Orientation Act, whether the proposal we have made, bringing together local authorities and the state, and to raise the funds necessary to carry out the project, will be approved. The principle is already included in the draft bill.”
