"Little teachers", everyone benefits

France 3/Scoop, Oct 18

A teacher from Castelsarrasin, Tarn-et-Garonne has started a practice of “little teachers” from the 3rd year helping younger students.

Some mornings, 3rd year volunteer students turn into teaching helpers, by offering assistance to younger students in subjects such as maths. The 3rd year students who don’t want to help, spend their time revising.

The system is helping to combat boredom for students, and is also helping to bridge the gap between high performing and low performing students, according to a spokesperson from the school.

Ten teachers are now practising this method in the school, and are convinced that everyone is a winner.
