Man hit by lightning playing paintball

A man died after being struck by lightning while playing paintball with friends in a forest near Perpignan.

The 33-year-old victim was struck in the shoulder during a powerful storm.

The man from the Pyrénées-Orientales was playing paintball with about 15 friends on a forest road in the town of Espira de l’Agly. He was hit by lightning on Sunday afternoon. Rescue services took him to hospital, where he died from his injuries later in the day.
