Mayor forgets to lodge opposition to antenna
Residents from Durfort, Gard are up in arms about an antenna project. Orange want to erect a 30 metre high antenna in a field of vines, and in a few days, they will have the right to do this.
The mayor of Durfort, Nicole Pratlong, failed to lodge her opposition of the project this summer, and when she finally tried to lodge it, she found that the deadline had passed, and the opposition could not be validated.
"I had sent a letter to Orange asking them to stop the project, to give me time, but I couldn’t speak to anyone, the whole process is automated. It’s terrible,” said the red-faced mayor.
Residents are worried about the health risks from the antenna, and as a way of publicising their anger, they have launched balloons to a hight of 30 metres in the vine field.
