Missing man found with severe hypothermia
A thirty-year-old from the Pyrénées-Orientales got lost on Monday night between Duilhac-sous-Peyrepertuse and Maury as the snow began to fall. Despite searching all night for him, the man wasn’t found until Tuesday morning.
The Aude police from Tuchan defined a big search area between the two Cathar departments. At one point they saw him in the distance, but the very bad weather and rugged terrain ment that they couldn’t get to him despite reinforcements from the Aude fire brigage, and several police units from the Pyrénées-Orientales.
Searches were stopped at 3:00 am to resume on Tuesday morning.
The missing man was finally found in the early morning. He was suffering from hypothermia, but was safe and sound. He was evacuated to Perpignan hospital.
