Montpellier activist gets bears moved
Montpellier video blogger and activist Rémi Gaillard has been campaigning to get two bears, Kiwi and Dominique moved to a bigger zoo. They are currently in Fort-Mardyck Zoo in Dunkirk, and their living conditions are not suitable for large bears, says Rémi.
Rémi, who coined the now famous phrase “”c’est en faisant n’importe quoi qu’on devient n’importe qui”, has notched up three billion views on Youtube, and has made animal welfare his main cause for the last few years.
The Hérault blogger wrote to film director Jean-Jacques Annaud, author of the movie The Bear in 1988, to ask him to help in the campaign. Kiwi was the star of the film, and more than 10 million people have been to the cinema to watch it. Annaud won a César for best director for the film.
Despite silence from the director, Rémi didn’t give up the campaign on social media, and he finally has had confirmation that the Zoodysee Park in western France, will be taking the bears in 2019. In the meantime, they may be moved to a German park “Stiftung für baren” located between Hanover and Leipzig in the heart of the country, as a temporary solution.
A great win for the Montpellier activist.
