Montpellier is ready for the snow this year

In February 2018, Montpellier ground to a halt when the snow fell. This year, a significant investment has been made, and a snow plan is in place. Emergency accommodation centres have been identified, salt spreaders, and snow excavators have been bought. 150 sets of snow chains are ready and waiting too. In total, the city has invested in 150,000€ of new equipment.

Since the last snowy episode, Montpellier has invested in three new salt spreaders, bringing their number to 18. It also has a 4x4 snow plough that is intended to clear the city centre.

Four reception centres can be opened in the city for emergency situations. The meeting room of the Town Hall, the Olympia Gymnasium, the Zenith and the Gambardella Gymnasium with the capacity to welcome people accompanied by dogs. The number of beds available has increased from 200 to 500 and 2200 people can be received in an emergency and fed with dry meals.

Don’t worry though, there’s no snow forecast for the moment.
