Montpellier student robbed by minors

MidiLibre/Scoop, Jan 15

A Montpellier student took the tram home to Castelnau-le-Lez on Friday evening at 11pm. All the way home he felt he was being watched. He got off at his usual station and walked for several minutes. A few metres from his home, three hooded individuals attacked him. One put a gun to his head, and the other brandished a large baton. The three robbers took his bag, wallet, phone, a computer, and then fled.

The student called the police from his home, and a local team was quick to respond. The police tracked down two of the individuals and arrested them, safeguarding the bag and the computer. There was no trace of the gun. In the morning, they identified the third individual, and the stolen phone.

The attackers, all aged 17, were locals. One of them was just out of prison, another was already known to the police for multiple crimes, and the third was unknown to the police.

The individual just out of prison was locked away again, and the other two were placed under judicial review pending trial.
