Montpellier traders are disillusioned

MidiLibre/Scoop, Dec 12

Montpellier city centre has been hugely impacted by the movements of the gilets jaunes, according to Midi Libre. Like most cities, the shop keepers are expecting a significant drop in this year’s turnover.

It’s just over 10 days before Christmas, and traders are very worried. They are already predicting that their turnover will be 30 percent down on last year, and a new gilets jaunes movement is expected this Saturday.

Even the Christmas market has not been spared, it has been closed several times as a security measure, and other Christmas markets may be closed on Saturday due to the heightened awareness of security after the Strasbourg shootings.
