Night of riots in Narbonne

France 3/Scoop, Dec 2

Rioters set fire to the south toll on the A9 motorway in Narbonne at the weekend.

Buildings and cars were set alight, toll terminals were attached with pickaxes, and gates were torn off.

France 3 reported that for several hours, a few dozen thugs burned everything in their way. Real scenes of chaos were orchestrated by young hoodies.

The excesses began in the early evening when “radicalised” people joined the gathering of Gilets Jaunes at the south toll, after the demonstration durning Saturday. The violence continued into the small hours of the morning. Buildings near the tolls were evacuated, and Vinci employees and their families were taken to safety.

Pierre Coppey, Deputy General Manager of Vinci Autoroutes reacted on twitter: “Intolerable: tonight in Narbonne, the demonstration of Gilets Jaunes destroyed the facilities. My support for all employees including those evacuated tonight.”
