OBEY, the propaganda art of Shepard Fairey

Montpellier, Montpellier.   |  On until Jan 13

Pierrevives in Montpellier presents the exhibition “OBEY, the propaganda art of Shepard Fairey” from September 14, 2017 to January 13, 2018.

For the first time in France, a major retrospective is dedicated to the 28 years of production by the American artist Shepard Fairey. Renowned for his iconic “Hope” portrait of the candidate Barack Obama, this committed, humanistic artist has always developed his special interest for environmental protection and social justice. Member of the Street Art movement, like Keith Haring and Banksy, Fairey shares his political and social criticism through his interventions in public areas.

The exhibition offers a global view of the work of Shepard Fairey by presenting a selection of 250 works, films and objects, ranging from his first hand-made silkscreen works to his unique large format canvas paintings and his prints on metal and wood.
