Off-duty policeman attacked in Béziers
On Tuesday night, an off-duty policeman from Béziers who was sitting at a bar, was attacked by three drunken men.
The policeman was carrying a weapon even though he was off duty, but this is permitted since the bombing at the Bataclan.
At around 9:30 in a bar at the Place de la Madelaine, Béziers, the policeman was punched and kicked to the ground. He was taken to hospital for treatment, and the three drunkards were locked up overnight to sober up before being questioned.
“We strongly denounce this cowardly aggression, which was violent and gratuitous. The wearing of a weapon by a policeman off duty is not illegal, but it could have contributed to the violence” said David Leynaud, deputy regional secretary of the Alliance union.
