Paris panic over losing M&S sandwiches post Brexit

LanguedocLiving, Aug 3

Marks and Spencer has 20 food stores in France, all under franchise, where it sells a million sandwiches annually. They are routed daily by truck through the Channel Tunnel and keep only 48 hours.

An exit from the European Union without agreement on future relations is a disaster scenario for the Marks and Spencer sandwich in Paris.

“The French will not like to hear that, because they are very popular” in France, said Archie Norman, president of Marks and Spencer. “If our trucks are parked in a car park near Dover for half a day, it would mean the disappearance of the super sandwich in Paris,” he added.

A first world disaster indeed.
